Project Details

As a 4-part dynamic oral history project that preserves and shares the rich stories of the Mather community through multiple media formats including a podcast series, a video walking tour, interactive museum kiosks, and a comprehensive digital archive to explore the history, culture, and personal narratives of the area. Elaboration on the execution and broadening of public understanding below:

Podcast Series: “Voices of Mather”

• Purpose: Provide an intimate, accessible way to experience the stories of Mather, with personal interviews and narratives from community members. The podcast will be episodic, covering different aspects of the Mather community’s history, such as culture, important events, family stories, and community impact.

Video Walking Tour

• Purpose: Create an immersive, educational experience by taking visitors on a visual journey through Mather’s streets and landmarks, highlighting important sites connected to its history. “Legacy of Mather School”

Interactive Museum Kiosks

• Purpose: Offer an engaging, hands-on way for schools and visitors to Mather to explore the history and culture of Mather through a series of interactive displays that feature multimedia content like photos, videos, and oral history clips.

Comprehensive Digital Archive

Content:

• Oral History Interviews: Transcripts and audio recordings will be available online.
• Photographs & Artifacts: Scanned copies of important photographs, documents, yearbooks, and artifacts from Mather School.
• Documents & Publications: Include relevant publications about Mather School, historical records, and publications from Rachel Crane Mather herself.

Purpose: Create a centralized, searchable digital repository for all collected materials, including the audio recordings, video content, photographs, and textual documents.
